Emily F. Cook, age 89, passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2023, at her home under the care of Community Hospice and surrounded by her loving family. The Collins native was born on September 2, 1933, to Alfred and Ollie (Collins) Findley and lived the majority of her life in Tattnall County. Emily was devoted to her family and was determined to do anything she could to ensure that they had everything they needed. With that goal in mind, she went to work on Ft. Stewart in civil service, where she would be employed until her retirement. Her down time would find her unwinding by reading countless books over the years or on the banks of her favorite fishing spot enjoying God’s creation. Emily was a long-time member of Cedar Creek Primitive Baptist Church where she would serve the Lord in many capacities. Born of a generation where service and devotion were placed above self; she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Emily is preceded in death by her parents; four siblings, William “Dub” Findley, Gladys Lindsay, Azalee Perry, and Mae Riner.
Left to cherish a lifetime of memories is her husband of 65 years, Wilbur Cook; son, Kenneth (Ann) Cook of Pooler; daughter, Cynthia Ann Cook (Greg) Jones of Woodland Park, CO; seven grandchildren; twenty-six great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends also survive.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00am on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 from the Chapel of Low Country Cremation and Burial with Elder Lee Chambers officiating. Interment will follow in the Reidsville City Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be James Kern, Barry Frazier, Jonathan Cook, Joshua Cook, Wade Riner, and Mark Perry.
Memorials may be given to Community Hospice Foundation, 904 Mt. Vernon Road, Vidalia, GA 30474.
