Eric B Burns

Eric Bernard Burns was gifted to us on Thursday, March 17th, 1977.  Gassie and Edna Orr brought Eric home to Pineland, South Carolina when he was just a few days old where he grew up and flourished in a home that was rich in values.  Eric attended school in the Jasper County school system where he was befriended and created relationships with people that loved, bonded, played, and cherished him.  Eric will always be known to his family and friends as being quick witted, funny, happy, and playful.  Eric was taught that he should earn what you're given, work hard, be respectful, not to beg for anything, and be loyal to his family.  Eric entered into eternal rest but he leaves many happy, beloved, and cherished memories of which he will never be forgotten.

Eric was preceded posthumously by his parents that loved and raised him, Mr. Gassie and Edna Orr.  Also preceding him in death was a step son, Tavoris Calhoun.  He leaves behind his fiancée, Sonnie Calhoun; biological mother, Juanita Burns; step-sons, Frank C. Steger and Tyshawn C. Steger; step-daughters, Samantha Calhoun, Tamika Calhoun, and V'Ketha Steger; brothers, Anthony Gibson and Joseph Burns; sister Carla Orr; niece Tia Bates; nephew Amir Bates; aunts, Barbara Orr and Cynthia Singleton; uncles, Thomas Orr Sr., Robert Orr, Marian Orr, Harvey Burns, Eddie Burns, and Joseph Burns.  Eric also leaves behind a host of loving first cousins; Barry Orr, Asher Pinckney, David Stevens, Roderick Orr, Demetria Jones, Terrence Orr, Nyasha Eady, Jeremy Major, Natasha Williams, Nakita Hemingway, Marion Orr, Jr., Latoya Orr, Mariel Orr, Ashely Orr, Marqez Orr, and Kym Burns.  Eric's extended family include his Uncle Garfield Orr's grandchildren who grew up with him as well.  Eric highly regarded Harry Orr, Jr. and Jimmy Orr Jr. with whom he spent much of his time with during his early years.  In addition to Eric's extensive biological family, he had a very close group of chosen family as well, to include his future father in law Jerry Calhoun; Lois Bacon, Jettie Calhoun, Mary (Willie) Sellers, Cheryl Manning, Lillian Calhoun, Terry (Cynthia) Calhoun, Larry Calhoun, Linda (Dale) Thomas, and Shirley (Ruben) King, Kenneth Davis, and Gregory Davis.  His special friends include Toshe Kileaf Ford.  Eric's South Carolina family will always be grateful to his immediate family and friends in Reidsville, Ga. for loving and caring for him for many years and his memory would not be complete without including them and their reflections of life as they know it with him as they are a major part of his family life.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday December 22, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home and Crematory located in Reidsville GA.  Homegoing funeral services will be held on Wednesday December 23, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church 2349 Mount Zion Road Tyson GA. Burial will follow in the Antioch Church Cemetery in Pineland SC.
Pallbearers will include Garland Smith, Aubrey Davis, Jeffrey Williams, Barry Orr, Charles T Mikell, Marion Orr, Jr., Larry Calhoun, and Jamond Calhoun.
