Reidsville GA
Felix Duane Smith, age 37, entered eternal rest on Monday, July 30, 2018. The Toombs County native grew up in Lyons. His early education was at Toombs County schools. Following high school, he attended Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service in Atlanta. Serving families during their most trying times was Duane’s professional passion. Always able to lend a shoulder to cry on or speaking just the right words; his gentle touch comforted countless families at multiple funeral homes throughout the area. In his down time, Duane was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to go hunting and fishing and, often, would come back from his excursions with a trophy deer or mess of fish. Devoted to his community, Duane was a former member of the Reidsville Fire Department, a Mason, and a member of Pinegrove Baptist Church. His ministry in the church was through his gift of song. He traveled the state singing gospel music when small churches would have a revival. A follower of Jesus, a family man, and a friend to everyone he met, Duane’s passing will leave a void that cannot be filled. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sophia R. Smith; his maternal grandparents, D.E. Collins & Linda McCraine; paternal grandparents, Felix A. & Rebie J. Smith.
Left to cherish the memories made together are his children Drew, Ammiee, Hunter, and Emma Smith all of Reidsville; father, Wayne Smith of Lyons; brother, Christopher (Sabrinia) Smith of Leesburg; mother of his children, Becky Smith of Reidsville; Uncles, Don Smith and Sammy(Sheri) Smith both of Leesburg, Buddy (Terri) Collins of Vidalia; nephew, Garrett Smith of Leesburg; cousins, Tucker and Tye Smith, Ashley Boston and Dillon Collins.
