Frances Louise Hunter

d. December 31, 2010

Collins,
Frances Louise Hunter , born April 3, 1924, a life-time resident of Collins Georgia, passed away Friday the 31st of December, 2010 at Bethany Nursing Center in Vidalia under the care of United Hospice. Born to Sally Mae and Millard Collins and orphaned as an infant, Frances was adopted by Melba and Watts Eason. At the passing of Melba when she was eleven years old she was raised by Melba’s sister Ollie Eason (Whitaker). Frances attended school in Collins. In 1945 she married the love of her life Rance Vernon Hunter. Rance paved the path to Heaven in 1994 and was waiting to greet her at her arrival along with their infant daughter Carolyn. She was a member of Mt. Carmel Methodist Church. Along with being a Homemaker, Wife and Mother, Frances worked tirelessly for many years. First working at the Union Bag Company during the 1940’s followed by Hills Grocery in Reidsville for several years during the 50’s and 60’s. Also Reidsville and Lyons Manufacturing until her retirement. An admired cook, she was known for her culinary skills. The kitchen was her domain and she took great pride in every dish that was made. Nothing made her happier then someone, especially family enjoying a meal that she had prepared. Plants and anything that flowered was a passion. Frances was an avid reader in her later years; anything written by Debbie Macomber was relished with enthusiasm. An accomplished seamstress she derived joy from needle work and sewing. Her favorite projects were aprons which she delighted in gifting to her daughters.
Frances will be sadly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by five daughters. Donna Sumner (Daniel), Cheryl Sikes (Charles), Brenda Woods (Jimie), Glenda Shuman (Robert) and Louise Anderson (“Predeceased” Carrol). Along with her daughters she leaves behind six grandchildren, several great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
