Freida Mae (Mallard) Dubberly

Freida Mae Mallard Dubberly age 87 passed away peacefully Friday, December 4, 2020, at her home in Savannah, surrounded by her devoted family. A farm-country beauty, Freida married Johnnie Harold Dubberly on April 3, 1952, at Piney Grove, Wayne County, Georgia, USA. Harold, who sported a handsome James Dean, Hollywood look, is known to say his only regret in life was not asking Freida to marry him on the day they met. Remembered for her sweet, soft-spoken, gentle ways and humble nature, in public life Freida was a seamstress in the couple's Dubberly Upholstery businesses in Glennville and Savannah. They were a strong team together producing exceptional work that was in high regard and high demand. If you saw Harold, then you would see Freida as they worked hard side by side for 69 years. In private life she remained a devoted mother and homemaker, passionate about cooking and caring for her family -- 3 children and 21 grand- to great-great grandchildren. Faithful in her religious membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and to the belief that "Families are Forever," she made it possible for her family to be sealed together for eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple, Idaho Falls, Idaho, in August 1965. She was born April 29, 1933, in Jesup, Wayne County, Georgia, USA, the eldest daughter of Willie Lowell Mallard and Lala Jewell Blanton, who together had 8 children: Freida Mae Mallard, Willie Faye Mallard, Gary Kent Mallard, Lowell  Gilbert  Mallard, Shirley Jane Mallard, Sheila Mallard, Frances Kathleen Mallard, Brenda Ann Mallard.

She is survived by her husband Johnnie Harold Dubberly, and their three children: Lala Diane Adams and Freida Darlene Welch (Mark) of Savannah, GA, and Ronnie Harold Dubberly of Holladay, Utah; Six grandchildren: Lisa Darlene Hutcheson (Donald), Richard Keith Welch (Amanda), Scott Anthony Welch (Angel), Ashley Marie Protsman (Joseph), Dustin Xavier Welch (Katie), April Victoria Omega Dant (Stephen); Thirteen great grandchildren: Ariel Brooke Blakey (Deceased 2019), Makaila Lauren Hutcheson, Kiera Nicole Hutcheson, Kinsley Hunter Hutcheson, Zanata Rowan Welch, Marissa Alexei Welch, Caitlyn Marie Brown (Jeremiah), Eli Anthony Welch, Kailey Marie Protsman, Peyton Joseph Protsman, Cooper Grayson Protsman, Stephen Ryan Dant, Jacob Anthony Dant; And, two great-great-grandchildren: Bryson Zayne Blakey and Isaac Joseph Brown.

A visitation with family and friends is Monday, December 14, 2020, at 1 p.m., followed by Funeral Services at 2 p.m. at the Bradley Anderson Funeral Home (The Glenville Funeral Home), 403 West Barnard Street Glennville, Georgia 30427. Following the service, Freida Dubberly will be laid to rest at the Glennville City Cemetery. The family requests masks be worn for the services. Pallbearers will be Mark Anthony Welch, Scott Anthony Welch, Richard Keith Welch, Charles Joseph Protsman, Donald William Hutcheson, Stephen Tyler Dant, Jayden Timothy Grimes.
