Oct 25, 1939 – Nov 26, 2015
Gail K. Miller, former comptroller for Quinlan & Co in Amherst, NY died Thanksgiving morning at home after a long illness. She was 76. Born in Meadville, PA, the youngest of four sisters, she moved to Williamsville, NY in 1967. She attended Kent State University and eventually earned her bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Buffalo. She also passed the exams to become a certified management accountant.
After retiring in 1999, she fulfilled a lifelong dream by relocating to Hilton Head Island, SC. Once there she continued to do accounting work part time. She enjoyed many activities there, but was happiest at home with her husband and two dogs, Duke and Domino. She spent many hours coming up with new things to knit or crochet either by hand or on her knitting machines. She sold many of her creations at a specialty consignment store on the island. Her best-selling item was the “alligator scarf”.
Survivors include her husband Charlie; her two daughters Wendy and Lisa (Tim) and three granddaughters, Emma, Kaylie and Brooklyn. She is also survived by her three sisters and many nieces and nephews.
A private memorial service is planned by the family in Hilton Head and a memorial service will also be held at 1 p.m. Friday at North Presbyterian Church in Williamsville, NY for her friends and family in the Buffalo area.
Low Country Cremation Services and Burial is serving the Miller family.
