Obituary
Gary Allen Souers
passed away on Monday, February 7th, 2011, in Reidsville, Georgia, following a long illness. He was 57. Gary was born in Miami, Florida and grew up in Hialeah. He was a journeyman carpenter by trade and was highly regarded for his outstanding framing and truss work. Gary loved the water, and lived for several years in the Florida Keys where he enjoyed boating, scuba diving, and snorkeling the waters of the coral reef. He was also an ardent hunter and spent many happy hours hunting and exploring in the Florida Everglades. Gary moved to Harlem, Georgia, in 2000, with his wife, Robin, and their twin sons, Samuel and David, all of whom reside in Harlem. He is also survived by a brother, Terry Souers, of Burlington, Vermont, and a cousin, Robert James, of Miami, Florida. Gary was a Christian and a member of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church in Harlem. A memorial service will be held there on Thursday, February 10th, at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Mike Sutphin presiding. The family will receive guests immediately following the service. Gary's desire was to be cremated; his remains will be scattered upon the waters off of the coast of Florida by the family at a later date. Flowers may be sent directly to Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, 739 Hwy.78, Harlem Georgia 30814, for the service, or donations honoring Gary Souers may be made to the building fund at Mt. Tabor.
