Gene Austin Kirkland

Gene “Little Gene” Austin Kirkland, Jr., age 58, passed away at his residence on March 11, 2019.  He was born on October 5, 1960 to Gene and Joyce Cowart in Reidsville where he had lived most of his life.  He graduated from Reidsville High School in 1979 and was an active part of his family’s Logging business.   Little Gene was a big fan of the Georgia Bulldogs and loved to go boating.  He was member of Reidsville Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his father, Gene Kirkland, Sr.

He is survived by his mother, Joyce Kirkland of Athens, son, Chance Austin  (Te’a Nicole) Kirkland of Glennville;  sister, Karyn Kirkland (Ricky Curry) of Lyons;  aunt, Linda Kirkland of Cordele;  grandchildren,  Anegele-Leigh  Kirkland,  Annelise Laelia Kirkland,  Annika  Lee Baker; several  nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends beginning at 6:00pm on Friday at the funeral home.  Funeral services will be conducted 3:00pm Saturday, March 16, 2019 with Rev Paul Adams and Dr Scott Rowlett officiating.  Interment will follow in the Reidsville City Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Hunter Mincey, Gerald Cox, Dennis Durrence, Mark Collins, Jack Cowart, Jr. Mark Collins and Jeff Ryals.

Honorary Pallbearers, Paul Adams, Mitch Bowen, Sylvester  Drinks, Jr.,  Stevie Drinks, and Junior Padgett.
