George Douglas Abbe

George “Papa George” Abbe , age 73 passed away Monday, August 18, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his family and under the care of Heartland Hospice. The Texas native had lived in Houston most of his life moving to Shellman Bluff in 2008. He was an US Army Veteran and retired from Bectal Construction as a superintendent. George loved to watch football and restoring antique furniture. He is preceded in death by his parents, Douglas and Eva Abbe and an Uncle, Tommy Babin.
He is survived by his wife of 18years, Gail Abbe of Shellman Bluff; children, Douglas Abbe, Jennifer Abbe both of Texas, Shontelle Marshall of Brunswick and Kelly Dunlap of Shellman Bluff; sisters, Susan Abbe and Marion Underwood both of Texas; aunt, Marion Babin of Texas; six grandchildren, four great- grandchildren.
The body will be taken to the home at 7352 Shellman Bluff Rd. NE Townsend, GA where the family will receive friends from 4:00pm to 8:00pm on Tuesday. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00pm Wednesday, August 20, 2014 from the Shellman Bluff Baptist Church with the Reverend Bob Briley officiating. Interment will follow at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville.
