George "Earl" Godbee

George "Earl" Godbee, 82, passed away on March 26, 2016, at Ogeechee Area Hospice in Statesboro surrounded by his family. Born in Savannah on August 26, 1933, he was a longtime resident of Bloomingdale prior to moving to Statesboro. After a stint in the Georgia National Guard, Earl was employed by Union Camp in Savannah for over 40 years prior to retiring. He was preceeded in death by his parents, George & Idelle Godbee; brother, Lehman; and first wife, Frances Smith Godbee.

Survivors include wife, Janice; son, Donny (Sharon) Godbee; daughters, Kathy (Robert) Biezenbos & Joan Godbee; stepchildren, Bobby (Brandee) Blythe and Kelly (Tony) Pye; Granchildren, Ryan Sellars, Reed & Reagan Godbee, Eric & Kyle Biezenbos, Garris Godbee, Kamryn & Gavin Blythe, Kimberly Pye; and 3 great-granchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 2nd at 10 am at Merrywood Baptist Church in Statesboro.

In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Merrywood Baptist Church or Ogeechee Area Hospice.
