Reidsville - Claxton
George S. Holton, age 71, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at his residence. The Oak Park, Georgia native had lived in Reidsville most of his life before moving to Claxton three years ago. George was a U.S. Air Force Veteran and retired after 30 years of service with the Georgia State Prison as a Correctional Officer. After his retirement, he went on to own and operate Holton’s Pawn Shop in Reidsville for 22 years and later launched his business “We Buy Gold” in Claxton. He attended the Lower Corinth Free Will Baptist Church in Oak Park and was a member of the Rising Sun Lodge #32. Mr. Holton is preceded in death by his parents, George and Zera Holton and brother, Howard Holton.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Fujiko Holton of Claxton, daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Ben Mallard of Anderson, South Carolina; sister, Frances Watson of Upper Lake, California; brother and sister-in-law, Leroy and Vonnie Holton of Lyons, Georgia; grandson, Jordan Mallard and granddaughter Kayla Mallard both of Anderson, South Carolina; niece, Bonnie Harvey of Sanderson, Florida; nephew, Joe Stamps of Lakeport, California and several cousins.
The family will receive friends at the Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home and Crematory beginning at 6:00pm on Friday, September 5, 2014. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00am Saturday, September 6, 2014 at Lower Corinth Free Will Baptist Church with Brother Donnie Collins officiating. Interment will follow in the Old Mt. Zion Church Cemetery. Mr. Holton will lie in state at the church beginning at 10:30am.
Pallbearers will be Alvin Holton, Glenn Holton, JP Holland, Bobby Anderson, Tommy Reddish and Jordan Mallard.
