George Wilmon Houston, Jr.

Elder George Wilmon Houston, Jr., was born December 18, 1940, in Jenkins County, Georgia, to the late George Houston, Sr. and the late Nettie Houston. After graduating from the Jenkins County school system, he moved to New York City. He married Annie Mott, March 31, 1961. He joined the U.S. Air Force where he served for eight years. In 1990, Elder Houston accepted the Lord as his personal savior. He became a member of the Bible Church of Christ headquarters, located in Bronx, NY, where Bishop Roy Bryant, Sr., is the Founder/Pastor. Elder Houston worked in various auxiliaries in BCOC. Elder Houston moved to Clinton, NC, where he pastored the BCOC NC location. Later, he joined New Vision Christian Church where Apostle Perry Ashford is Founder/Pastor. Elder ministered in nursing homes, prisons, jails and wherever the Lord opened doors for him. He loved to minister to the youth. In 2007, he moved to Hortense, GA. He joined Prayer and Faith Revival Center, where Elder Charles Judson is the Pastor. Elder Houston was the Sunday school superintendent and he taught Sunday school and Bible study. He ministered in the Bay View Nursing Home in Nahunta, GA. Elder George Houston departed this life February 20, 2016, at home.

He left to celebrate his life, his loving wife, Minister Annie Houston; two daughters, Joyce McKinney (Burnell), Alice Faye Judson (Charles); three aunts, Susie Mae Scott (late Floyd) of Jesup, GA, Martha Jackson (late Johnny) of Brooklyn, NY, Doris Jones (late Tony) of Savannah, GA; seven grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Joe Mott (Shirley) of Atkinson, NC; two sisters-in-law, Dancie Thomas (late Rodney) of Atkinson, NC and Brenda Mott (late Alfred) of Atkinson, NC; one Godson, Johnny Jackson of NYC; one Goddaughter, Shawnté Muhammad (William); two spiritual mothers, Elder Anita Robinson of Bronx, NY and Mother Louise Stephens of Sterling, GA and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Many adopted him as granddaddy.

Elder Houston was a spiritual mentor to Pastor Terry Walker of It’s Not About You Ministries in Brunswick, GA and Minister Candace Morgan of Roundlake, IL of Iron Sharpens Iron/Prayer Connections Ministries.

Funeral Services will be conducted 11:00 A.M., Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Philadelphia the Overcomers Church of Deliverance, 3701 Darien Highway, Brunswick, GA.
