Collins,
Mr. Harry “Hank” Wallace Oliver, age 77, passed away on Monday, July 27, 2020 at his residence. The Tattnall County native grew up a fierce and loyal patriot. After graduating, he joined the United States Marine Corps. His years of service had him in harms way in defense of our great country in both Vietnam and Beirut. His actions in Vietnam earned him a Purple Heart. Ultimately, his commitment and dedication to the United States would lead him to 21 years in the Marine Corps, attaining the rank of 1st Sergeant. After his retirement, he remained dedicated to the causes and support of both active duty and fellow Veterans of the Armed Forces. In his idle time, he found joy in playing the guitar and riding horses. After 34 years of marriage, in 2017, Hank lost his beloved wife Linda. Following her passing, he grew quite close to his dogs, Hobo and Missy. Hank was truly a man among men; a great example of how to live, love, and serve, he will be deeply missed. He is preceded in death by his wife, Linda Oliver and his parents, Collie and Doris Oliver.
Left to reflect the honor of a great patriot’s life are his four children, Robin Lynn, Jane Marie, April Denise, and Lake Matthew; four siblings, Elaine Clisbee, Judy (Larry) Burford, Wayne (Julie) Oliver, and Renee Oliver; several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends also survive.
