HAZEL C. EUBANKS, age 85, departed on JULY 11, 2015 at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Jesup, GA. Hazel was born on April 10, 1930 to the late Leona Johnson and Timothy Ethridge in Eutaw, AL. She was married to the late Howard Eubanks who preceded her in death. Hazel Eubanks was A SELF MADE WOMAN who lived in McKeesport, PA for many years where she was a successful owner and operator of Hazel’s Beauty Shop. Hazel later relocated to Tuscaloosa, AL where she retired from the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. She had many personal accomplishments; including being named the first black female State Conference President of the Alabama’s NAACP and being named the President of the Tuscaloosa Chapter of the NAACP from 1982-1992.
Left to mourn her memory are her two sons; Dwayne E. Stoutamire (Sylvia) and Dwight E. Stoutamire (Antonia); 17 grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren, and numerous other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 17th, 2015 at the First African Baptist Church in Tuscaloosa AL., from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Ms. Eubanks will lie in state on Saturday, July 18th, 2015 from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m at the First African Baptist Church. Funeral Services will immediately follow beginning at 1:00 p.m., with Rev. Richard L. Morgan officiating. Interment will follow in the Cedar Oaks Memorial Park Cemetery.
