Helen I. Shuman Beard, age 85 passed away Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Community Hospice. The Toombs County native had lived in Lyons for most all of her life. Mrs. Helen was a homemaker and former owner of Yorke Restaurant along with other businesses as well. In her spare time, she enjoyed working in her yard and gardening but most of all she loved spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Marcus Shuman and William H. Beard.

She is survived by her children, Patricia (Jimmy) Hattaway of Reidsville, Madalyn Hemphill of Vidalia, Tina (Jim Paul) Cowart of Johnsons Corner; 5 grandchildren 13 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

Memorial Service will be conducted 2:00pm, Sunday, December 24, 2017 from the Chapel of Low Country Cremation and Burial with Dr. Chuck Jonas officiating. Burial will be private.
