Mr. Hilton Dean Garrett, age 87, passed away Saturday, January 1, 2022, at Community Hospice Inpatient Center in Vidalia.  He was born in Lyons on January 11, 1934, to Delma Franklin and Jocey Lee Poole Garrett and had lived in Toombs County most of his life.  He was a self-employed truck driver for many years.  Mr. Dean enjoyed working in his garden, cutting grass, and fishing.  His favorite pastime was enjoying time with his grandchildren.  He is a member of Rocky Creek Baptist Church and is preceded in death by his parents; children, Ronnie Garrett and Karen Garrett; siblings, Gilbert Garrett, Juanita Braddy and Cecil Garrett.

He is survived by his loving wife of 68.5 years, Mrs. Shirley Garrett of Lyons; children, Ann (Fred) Underwood, Joy (Alex) Beckum and David (Leslie) Garrett all of Lyons; siblings, Margaret McDonald of Vidalia, and Mack (Nelda) Garrett of Lyons; 11 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends beginning at 6:00pm on Monday, January 3, 2022, at the funeral home.  Funeral services will be conducted 1:00pm on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, from the Chapel of Low Country Cremation and Burial with the Reverend Michael Kennedy officiating.  Interment will follow in the Reidsville City Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Lucas Beckum, Garrett Martin, Gage Martin, Wayne Wickstrom, Thomas Allen, and Ace Garrett.
