Mr. Hugh E. Scott , age 89, passed away Saturday, December 09, 2017 at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Center in Statesboro. He was born August 3, 1928 to Jesse Nathaniel and Sarah Ellen Kennedy Scott in Reidsville and had lived there all of his life. He was a World War II United States Navy Veteran and a member of the Reidsville Baptist Church. In his early years he was the sales manager of Kennedy Chevrolet. Mr. Hugh’s passion was farming. He was a poultry and livestock farmer. He enjoyed watching the San Francisco Giants. He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Mary S. Fry, Daisy S. Neighbors, Ella Mae Black, JN Scott, Jr., Mildred Groover, Fred Scott, and Thomas Scott.
Mr. Scott is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Sue Scott of Reidsville; children, Kay (Allan) Davis of Reidsville and Dr. Jesse (April) Scott of Claxton; grandchildren, Hunter (Haley) Davis, Sarah (Brent) Craft, Anna, Nathan, Luke and Abi Scott; two great grandchildren, Ella Kate and Brantley Davis; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:00pm to 7:00pm Sunday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00am, Monday December 11, 2017 from the Reidsville Baptist Church with the Reverend Steve Miller and Brother Norm Seibert officiating. Interment will follow in the Rome Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Kennedy, Jan Kennedy, Matt McBride, Derrell Thigpen, Jr., Brock Scott, and Chad Scott.
Honorary pallbearers will be Devaughn Beal and the Late DL Durrence.
Memorials may be given to Ogeechee Area Hospice, 200 Donehoo St., Statesboro, GA 30458 or charity of donor’s choice.
Low Country Cremation and Burial is serving the Scott family.
