Claxton, GA
TSGT James Cecil (JC) Cooper, Jr. , USAF Retired received his final transfer orders on Friday, July 24, 2015. He is now in heaven directing air traffic for his Heavenly Father. While on earth J.C. was a medic in the dental clinic during the Korean War and later served as an Air Traffic Controller proudly completing 20 years of service to his country. He was born in the Blue Ridge community of Toombs County and completed High School in Savannah before joining the Air Force.
J.C. retired to Georgia and worked as a Medical Assistant, EMT and Registered Nurse at Ga. State Prison for 23 years. He received a BS Degree in Criminal Justice from Ga. Southern College and got his Nursing Degree from South Ga. College. J.C. loved High School and College Football (was a Ga. Southern/ Ga. Tech/UGA fan, in that order) and enjoyed playing golf.
He loved his Family and loved his Church as he was a member of Eastside Baptist Church. His surviving Family Members are: his wife-Lane Cooper, daughter- Beth Cooper Teheng (Ryan), sons- Barry (Marianna) and Mike Cooper, Grandchildren- Marc, Jamie, Caleb, Lucas, and Kaitlin, brothers- Charlie and Gary Cooper, sister- Brenda Cooper Basey, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends beginning at 6:00pm Tuesday, July 28, 2015 Eastside Baptist Church in Claxton. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00am Wednesday, July 29, 2015 from Eastside Baptist Church with Dr. Matt Brady and Dr. Charlie G. Cooper officiating. Interment will follow in the Millen City Cemetery with full military honors.
