James Wesley Holtsclaw, Sr.

Mr. James Wesley Holtsclaw, Sr. age 85, passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family and under the care of hospice.  He was born in Spruce Pine, NC on January 7, 1939, to Edward and Ruth Staford Holtsclaw.  He made Glennville his home 44 years ago.  James was in the construction business where he helped build the bridges on I95.  He retired from Claxton Poultry after 30 years of service.  He enjoyed working in his yards, watching the news and listening to old country music.  James was a member of Beards Creek Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Mary, Sherry and Jack Holtsclaw.

He is survived by his sons and daughter in law, James Wesley and Tammy Holtsclaw and Wesley Holtsclaw all of Glennville; sisters, Margaret Holtsclaw Bess of FL and Elizabeth Holtsclaw Biddix of NC; grandchildren, James Samuel (Amy) Holtsclaw of Glennville and April Michelle Holtsclaw of Daisy; great grandchildren, Samantha, Bentley, Bella, Eli Jeremy, Sophia, Michael and Kaydance; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at 12:00pm on Saturday, October 26, 2024 with the funeral services following at 1:00pm from the Chapel of Glennville Funeral Home with The Reverend Steve Flowers and Brother Scott Rogers officiating.  Interment will be in the Beards Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jamie Holtsclaw, Jeremy Cervantez, Timmy Clark, Greg Rowell, Reggie Waters and Greg Strickland.
