Reidsville GA,
James Lee Manning, age 75, passed away on February 23, 2020 at Oxley Park Health and Rehabilitation. A native of Miami Florida, he moved with his family to Tattnall County when he was in his early teens. Rural life fit him well. James was a true outdoorsman who loved fishing and hunting. He was especially fond of hunting racoons and rabbits. James was known to be the life of any gathering and the family fondly recalls that at any party, he was the first to arrive and the last to leave. When someone would tell him, he was too old to dance and have fun, he would say, “Nothing gets old but clothes”. In as much as James loved a good time and his idle time hunting, he was dedicated to his job. He worked for over 32 years with Durrence Farms where he was a valued member of the family and skilled equipment operator. James left a lasting impact on all who knew him, and he will be sorely missed. He is preceded in death by his wife, Vaslea Smith Manning; his parents, John Wesley and Lucille Manning, and a daughter, Sabrina Manning.
Left to cherish memories of a life well lived are his children, Brenda Faye (Cornelius) Brown, Charles Smith, Willie James (Katie) Smith, Samantha Smith, and John Wesley (Shemeka) Manning; 11 grandchildren, Robert Smith, Whitney Williams, Joshua Williams, Charles Kirkland, Justin Smith, Jayden Smith, Zaria Brisaid, Johntavius Manning, Jarquavias Manning, Harmony Manning, and Jonnazhia Manning; 5 great grandchildren, Raheam Smith, Janiah Smith, Ka’liah Salders, Braylee Waters, Kamilla Williams, and Khloe Williams; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and countless friends also survive.
