Odom,
James “Dale” Godwin, age 50, passed away Friday, July 17, 2015 at his residence under the care of Hospice of South GA. The Bradenton, FL native moved to South Georgia as a young boy. He attended Appling County Schools. He was a sheetrock finisher and could do all types of construction. Dale loved to fish and watch Nascar racing. Dale Earnhart, Sr. was his favorite driver of all time. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Jesup.
He is survived by his parents, James V. (Colleen) Godwin of Baxley and Marilyn (Carroll) Phillips of Odom; and a sister, Debra (Allen) Curtis of Odom; adopted brother, John Boy Courson of Odom; niece, Ashley Wells, nephew, Shawn Curtis; great niece, Ashlynn Stephens; maternal grandmother, Lucille Odom of Baxley; several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.
The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00am on Monday July 20, 2015 from Friendship Baptist Church with the funeral services to follow at 11:00am with the Reverend Phillip Osteen officiating. Interment will follow in the Carter Cemetery in Baxley.
Pallbearers will be John Boy Courson, Willie Holland, Mike Stanley, Jared Stephens, Shawn Curtis and Dondi Flood.
