Mr. James Edwin “Eddy” Dasher, age 82, passed away Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family and under the care of GHC Hospice. He was born in Glennville on May 2, 1939 to Daniel James and Gladys Spivey Dasher and lived in Glennville most of his life. He was a 1958 graduate of Glennville High School.
Shortly after high school Mr. Eddy joined the United States Air Force. Upon completion of his military service Mr. Eddy was employed at Fort Stewart and after retiring from Fort Stewart, Mr. Eddy and his brothers opened Dasher Feed and Seed in Glennville. He was an active farmer for many years, sharing his produce with many people and also enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was an active member of First Christian Church where he served as an Elder, Sunday school teacher, and on the Board of Directors for many years. He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Charles Dasher and Ulma Lee Anderson.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mrs. Margie Kicklighter Dasher of Glennville; sons, Shad James (Kadee) Dasher of Ludowici, Jim Ivey (Stephanie) Dasher and Lance Michael (Tammy) Dasher all of Glennville; siblings, Julian (Louise) Dasher, Eugene (Barbara) Dasher, Linda Brannen, and Wayne (Julie) Dasher all of Glennville; sisters in law, Mary Kate Dasher, Bobby Baker, Linda (Ernest) Stanfield all of Glennville, Claude (Phyllis) Kicklighter of Florida and Betty Hill of Texas; grandchildren, Larry Anderson, Katharina (Bradley) Dennis, Christian Dasher, Walburga “Mitzi” Dasher, Allen Dasher, Chance Dasher, Shelby Bowen, Summer (Harrison) Kirkland, James Dasher, Michael (Reba) Dasher, Brianna Dasher and Rebekah Dasher; great grandchildren, Jessica Dennis, Lynzie Dasher, Chancey Dasher, Jacob Dasher, Thomas Dasher and Eve Lunn; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends in the Chapel of the Glennville Funeral Home beginning at 9:30am on Saturday, January 1, 2022 with the funeral services to follow at 11:00am with Reverend Martin Bender officiating. Interment will follow in the Glennville City Cemetery with Military honors.
Pallbearers will be Larry Anderson, Christian Dasher, Allen Dasher, James Dasher, Michael Dasher and Harrison Kirkland.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Elders, Deacons and members of the Glennville First Christian Church.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to First Christian Church Memorial Fund, 9224 Highway 23, Glennville, GA 30427 or Camp Kicklighter Foundation, 1661 Winchester Road, Sylvania, GA 30467.
