James Lester “Jimmy” Allen, age 66 passed away on Wednesday April 18, 2018 at Optim Medical Center. The Raleigh, North Carolina native spent his formative years in St. Augustine Florida. He graduated from St. Augustine High School in 1970. Growing up in the 60’s he saw what was happening in Vietnam and felt an overwhelming desire to serve his country. Therefore, after graduating he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Jimmy was honorably discharged from the Marines after attaining the rank of Sergeant. Upon his discharge he was able to see various parts of the country, eventually settling down in Reidsville. Embarking on the next chapter of his life, he began working for the Georgia Department of Corrections where he retired as the Staff Training Officer. Once he retired, he was able to do the things he loved, and he filled his days fishing, camping, and hunting. Although he had a full schedule, he always made time for his family and his faith. Many afternoons were filled at the kid’s, and later the grandkid’s, various sporting events. Additionally, he was a long serving and faithful member at The Rock Worship Center. A dedicated family man, a dear friend, a devoted child of Christ, and a dutiful patriot; Jimmy will be sorely missed by all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his parents, James Lester Allen Sr. and Athel Nadine Smith.
Keeping his memory alive are his wife, Janet Mimbs Allen of Reidsville; children, Tara Addair Longo, James Lester “Jamie” Allen III both of Reidsville, and Nikki Allen(Eddie) Cruz of Tennessee; sister, Nancy Allen Gardner of St. Augustine, FL; grandchildren, Ryan (Hannah) Longo, Alec Longo, Josh Longo, Macy Longo, Jayden Toole, Peyton Finnerty, and Blayze Greeson; many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends beginning at 2:00pm on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at the Glennville Funeral Home with the funeral services to begin at 3:00pm with the Reverend Chris Goode officiating. Graveside funeral services will be conducted 10:00am Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery with honors rendered by the US Marines.

Pallbearers will be Don Warren, Brett Warren, Greg Boyett, Trevor Boyett, Ray James, and Trey James.
