Macon
James “Jimmy” English, age 72, passed away Thursday October 30, 2014 at Pine Pointe Hospice in Macon after a long battle with cancer. Jimmy was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, former Vice- President of Local 461, and Masonic Lodge 418. Among his many hobbies, he had an affinity for growing beautiful roses. Additionally, he was an avid outdoorsman who particularly enjoyed camping. No matter the other things that were happening in his life, he always made time to see the grandchildren’s ball games and concerts. In his professional career he was a hardworking and dedicated person, retiring from Armstrong World Industries after 33 years of service. He is preceded in death by his parents and a son, Jamie English.
Jimmy is survived by his wife of over 53 years, Scarlett English of Macon; daughter Mardi Gillespie of Macon; son Brad (Kathy) English of Macon; daughter in law, Tina English of Macon; 5 grandchildren, Bryan Gillespie of Macon, Ben Gillespie of Macon, Jake Gillespie of Tucker, Trey English of Waco TX, and Chase English of Macon.
Visitation will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday November 3, 2014 at Macon Memorial Park cemetery with graveside funeral services to immediately follow at 2:00 p.m at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with the Reverends Clay Bowden and Andy Oxford officiating. The family would request that remembrances be made to Mt. Zion Baptist Church building fund 7015 Rivoli Road, Macon GA 31210 or Pine Pointe Hospice 6261 Peake Road, Macon GA 31210.
