Janice Brazell Phillips, age 74, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at her home surrounded by her beloved family and under the compassionate care of Community Hospice. She was born on May 22, 1949, to Marcus Foy and Euretta Blocker Brazell at the family home in Bellville. However, the vast majority of Janice's life was spent in Reidsville. She attended school in Claxton and Reidsville graduating in 1967 from Reidsville High School. Following graduation, Janice embarked on a new chapter of life, marrying her beloved husband, Rabun Phillips. As a dedicated homemaker, Janice committed herself to establishing a nurturing and affectionate home for the couple’s three children. Janice's unconditional love extended beyond raising her children. She would go on to play an integral role in the upbringing of her grandchildren, as well as her beloved great-granddaughter.
In her free time, Janice found peace in reading and she immersed herself in books, finding solace and inspiration within the pages. Prior to her husband's death, Janice enjoyed nothing more than going on cruises with him to various locations and spending relaxing time together. Later in life, Janice preferred to be close to home and provided compassionate care for her beloved dogs and cats. The fabric that bound her life together however was her faith in Jesus. She was a faithful member and would serve the Lord at Pineview Baptist Church. There was seldom a week that she would miss the Tuesday’s Ladies Bible Study where she delved deeper into the profound teachings of God. She was also civic minded and wanted to better the community in which she lived. She would accomplish this goal as a longtime member of the Reidsville Lions Club. A gentle and caring person, filled with love for all, she will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rabun D. Phillips; her brother, Jerry Brazell; her great grandchildren, Savannah Grace Noel and Memphis Grey Noel.
Left to cherish a lifetime of memories are her three children, Deidra (James) Corbitt, Rhonda (Keith) Dasher, and Dan (Jodi) Phillips; her brother, Wayne Brazell; nine grandchildren, Leah Corbitt Anderson, Austen Phillip Corbitt, Ansley Phillips, Ciara (Josh) Correa, Ryan (Leslie) Dasher, Stephanie and Jason Noel, John Warrington, Justin Warrington; eight great grandchildren, Ella Anderson, Finn Dasher, Celia Dasher, Jewel Correa, Jett Correa, Callie Noel, Ariella Warrinton and Bennett Noel; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted 3:00pm on Sunday, June 25, 2023, at the Reidsville City Cemetery with Reverend Gregg Usry officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family would be honored by memorials donations to Pineview Baptist Church, c/o Maryann Swain, 1491 Levi Kennedy Road, Reidsville, GA 30453; The Samaritan Purse, PO Box 3000 Boone, NC 28607 or Tattnall CARES, PO Box 2356 Reidsville, GA 30453.
