J. Calvin Anderson, 77, of Collins, passed away peacefully at home with family under the care of Community Hospice of Vidalia, GA. He was a born again Christian for more than forty years. He attended Edmond Chapel for twenty years before returning to Collins Full Gospel. He operated heavy equipment for over fifty years and built hundreds of ponds. He loved Gospel music, fishing, hunting, and visiting with friends.
He is survived by his wife of fifty seven years—Mildred Akins Anderson, a daughter—Kimberly Anderson Brinson of Collins, three grandsons—Joshua Brinson of Charleston, SC, Matthew Brinson of Collins, GA, and Brett Brinson of Collins, GA.
He is also survived by four sisters and a brother: Myrtle Mauk of Prattville, AL, Margaret (Talmadge) Green of Cobbtown, GA; Frances (Johnny) Bradley of Register, GA; Jean Rewis of Crescent, GA; and brother Steve Anderson of Collins, GA. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents—Ottis and Vesta Anderson, one brother—Ottis (Pop) Anderson, Jr, and one sister—Mildred (Midge) A. Sikes.
Visitation will be at 3pm, Saturday June 21st at Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home in Reidsville, GA with funeral services to follow in the chapel at 4 p.m. the same day. Rev. W.H. McLeod and Mr. Johnny Bradley will perform the services and Rev. and Mrs. Andrew Nelms will minister in song. Graveside services are open to everyone and will be Sunday June 22nd , 3 p.m., at Edmond Chapel Church of God Cemetery in Johnson Corner, GA. Pallbearers will be nephews: Keith Bradley, Jim Anderson, Anthony Anderson, Robert F. Sikes, Trent Akins, Greg Williamson, Hubert Akins, and Joseph Akins.
