Jerry E. Padgett Sr., age 72, passed away Saturday January 31, 2015 at Community Hospice after an extended illness. The Baltimore, MD native lived in Jacksonville Florida for many years before moving to Reidsville in 1983. Jerry was a US Army veteran, and after being Honorably Discharged went to work for Trailways Bus Lines: retiring after 13 years of service. Jerry was above all, known as a people person and never met a stranger. Jerry was a member of Pineview Baptist Church and loved to fish in his free time. He is preceded in death by his parents, Doy and Alma Padgett; brother, Edwin Padgett, and a sister, Joan Thompson.
Left to mourn his memory are his; sons, Jerry E Padgett, Jr of Brunswick and Keith Padgett of Jacksonville FL; brother, Johnny Padgett of Eden; sisters, Jaquline Oliver of Vidalia, Joyce Padgett of Reidsville, Gloria Major of Vidalia; 3 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday February 3, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Bradley B Anderson Funeral Home and Crematory. Funeral Services will follow the visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel with Reverends Terry Wilson and Toby Skreene officiating. Burial will follow in the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville GA.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Community Hospice 904 Mt. Vernon Rd, Vidalia Ga. 30474
The family will gather for a time of fellowship and refreshments at the Reidsville Housing Authority Community Center immediately following the committal service
