Jettye Grace Jackson of Pooler, GA was promoted to God's glory on July 12, 2023, with her son by her side. She was born on July 21, 1940, to Deacon Solomon and Mrs. Mollie B. Hall in Glennville, GA. She received her education in Tattnall County School System where she was in the graduating class of 1959 in Reidsville, GA. After graduation, Jettye relocated to New Rochelle, New York to pursue other aspirations. It was there that she and her high school sweetheart, Mr. George D. Jackson (deceased) were married and to this union, two children were born. While in New Jersey, she worked for the Newark Board of Education and later changed her career path to the field of healthcare. She remained in the healthcare field for 30 years, retiring in 2003 from the Reformed Church Home in Old Bridge, New Jersey to care for her then husband, Deacon French Pankey (deceased) of East Orange, New Jersey. Jettye worked alongside her husband in their work for the Lord and was later ordained a Deaconess. Jettye was a member of the Abyssinia Church, in Newark, New Jersey for many years. Upon moving to Pooler, she worshipped at the Quacco Baptist Church.
She leaves to cherish her memories a daughter Stephanie (Terence) Gavin of North Plainfield, New Jersey, a son Thomas D. (Monica) Jackson of Pooler, Georgia, grandchildren Trence (Dasianee) Gavin, Jr. of Camden, Delaware, and Jessica Gavin of North Plainfield, New Jersey, a stepdaughter, Valerie Porter of Elizabeth, New Jersey, two sisters, Toni Wilson and Ossie (Clifford) Edmonds of Greenville, North Carolina. Her memory will forever be cherished by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
Family will receive friends beginning at 11:00am on Saturday, July 22, 2023 at Glennville Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 12:00pm from the Chapel of Glennville Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Greater Zachariah Church Cemetery.
