Collins,
Mr. John Franklin Bacon age 69 passed away Sunday February 17, 2013 at his residence after an extended illness. The Tattnall County native was reared in Toombs County moving to Collins in 1965. He was an US Army Veteran serving most of his tour in Germany. His duty in Germany was assembling, disassembling and transporting Persian Missiles. He was a retired foreman from The Georgia Department of Transportation after thirty two years of service. Franklin was an avid reader and loved to travel to the North Carolina mountains. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Williford and Dorothy DeLoach; Lester and Lou Bacon.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Linda Nail Bacon; parents, James F. and Ruby Hazel Bacon of Alston; son, Timmy (Traci) Bacon of Hayesville, NC; daughters, Mechelle Bacon Loyd (Rocky Flowers) of Collins; Ramanda (Scott) Hughes of Blairsville; sister, Louise Bacon of Vidalia; mother-in-law, Reba Cobb of Collins; sister-in-law Mildred Nail; grandchildren, Trevor and Kyra Hughes, Tristan and Danielle Loyd, Makayla and Dilan Flowers; two nieces and one nephew
Visitation will begin at 6:00pm Monday from the Reidsville Chapel.
Funeral services will be conducted 3:00pm Tuesday, February 19, 2013 from the Reidsville Chapel of Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home with the Reverends, Jimmy Bargeron and Frank Morris officiating. Interment will follow in the Little Flock Church Cemetery with Military Honors.
