John "JR" Robert Harrell

John "JR" Robert Harrell was born on March 26, 1936, in Fitzgerald, Georgia. He passed away peacefully on March 2, 2025, at Memorial Health Meadows Hospital under the care of Community Hospice. JR dedicated many years of his life to the construction industry, specifically in building houses, and took pride in being a caretaker of numerous orange groves in Florida. His skills and love for woodworking further highlighted his creative spirit, and he found enjoyment in the simple pleasures of life, including watching "Gunsmoke" on television. JR lived the majority of his life in Ocala, Florida, before relocating to Glennville three years ago. Throughout his journey, he remained a faithful attendee of the Reidsville Church of God. JR is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Washington and Perlie Mae Calhoun Harrell; his wife, Mary Harrell; son, Gaylord Harrell; brothers, TW Harrell and Stanley Harrell; sister, Ellen Shearer; and niece, Missy Massey.

He is survived by his beloved sisters, Marie Massey of Glennville and Patricia Sutton of Collins, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who cherished their time with him.

His family and friends remember JR as a devoted and hardworking individual whose memory will forever live on in their hearts.

Family will receive friends beginning at 10:00am on Saturday, March 8, 2025 with a funeral services to follow at 11:00am from the Chapel of Glennville Funeral Home with the Reverend William Prince officiating. Interment will be in the Glennville City Cemetery.

He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege to know him.
