John S. Bowen

Mr. John S. Bowen , age 89, passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Center in Statesboro surrounded by his loving family.  The Tattnall County native had lived in Glennville most of his life.  Mr. Bowen began his career as a truck driver for Hercules Powder Company but retired after many years as a butcher working for several businesses in the area.  After officially retiring, he continued to work on a part time basis with Tattnall Auto Parts.  In his free time, he loved tending to his garden and fishing.  He was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his mother, Ordiann Tatum and a brother, Junior “Shorty” Rewis.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Margie O. Bowen of Glennville; children, Cindy DeLoach and Timmy (Connie) Bowen all of Glennville; brother, Ray Rewis of Texas; grandchildren, Stephen DeLoach of Nashville, TN, Abigail Bowen and Colton Bowen both of Glennville; several nieces and nephews also survive.

The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00am on Friday, March 3, 2017 from the Calvary Baptist Church with the funeral services to follow at 12:00pm with the Reverends Jerry Knight and Bryan Anderson officiating.  Interment will follow in the Glennville Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Stephen DeLoach, Colton Bowen, Danny Rewis, Bo Boram, Bob Adams, and Dan Rogers.
