Glennville,
Mr. John M. Wilson, age 71, passed away Sunday, May 13, 2018 at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Center in Statesboro surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Reidsville on July 13, 1946 to John Olen and Dorothy Moore Wilson and was lifelong resident of Glennville. He graduated from the Glennville High School in 1964. After graduation, he joined the US Army and was a Vietnam Veteran where he was awarded the Bronze Star. Mr. John retired after 42 years of service with Interstate Paper where he was proud that he never missed a scheduled day of work. He enjoyed fishing and especially visiting his mountain home in Hiawassee. He was a member of the VFW Post 7807 in Hiawassee and is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Shelby Wilson Dasher.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Nancy Justice Wilson of Glennville; children, Kerry (Scott) Waters of Glennville, John Daniel (Julie) Williams of Auburn, AL, Emilie (Russ) Taulbee of Statesboro and Paige Snell of Brunswick; brother, Jack (Lori) Wilson of Glennville; nine grandchildren; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00pm Thursday, May 17, 2018 at the Glennville Funeral Home with the funeral services to follow at 2:00pm with the Elder Jason Deal officiating. Interment will follow with Military Honors at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Spencer McGovern, Larry Kennedy, Mike Aspinwall, Bruce Purcell, Nick English, and Jimmy Parker
Honorary pallbearers will be past and present employees of Interstate Paper Company.
