Jesup, GA
Johnny Dwayne Finch, II, age 37, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 14, 2023, at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah. The Evans County native spent his formative years in the Evans County School System and would go on to graduate from Claxton High School. While in school, and in the years to follow, Johnny would find a love for Tennis and Cross-Country running. He was also active in the FFA. His time in the FFA would help him discover a lifelong love for horticulture, and the great outdoors in general. After his graduation, he would go on to serve in the United States Army where his specialty would be as an electrical computer engineer. Johnny would devote six years of his life in service to his country. During the last year of his life, he would move to Jesup and go into management with the Circle K store chain. In his free time, he loved to cook and above all else, aggravate his nieces and nephews. His playful ways didn’t end with the kids though. All who knew him knew he was a jokester and never met a stranger. A gentle soul with a heart of gold, Johnny will be sorely missed by all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Sam & Hilda Bush; paternal grandfather and step-grandmother, Julian & Elouise Finch; paternal grandmother and step-grandfather, Earline & Darryl Nightingale.
Left to cherish precious memories of a life well lived is his partner, Devon Owens of Jesup; parents, Johnny D. and Kathy Finch of Reidsville; a brother, Troy (Lisa) Howell of Claxton; two sisters, Rena Finch of Claxton and Jamie (William) Douglas of Reidsville; eight nieces and nephews, Dylan, Brianna, Kenton, Cadance, Hailey, Peyton, Tessa, and Cheyenne; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends made along life’s journey also survive.
