Mr. Johnny Blaine Hightower, age 45, passed away Friday September 20, 2013 at Meadows Regional Medical Center in Vidalia after a brief illness. The Tattnall County native lived much of his life in Savannah, Georgia returning to Collins four years ago. During his professional career, he was a restaurant manager, managing two acclaimed restaurants; The Shrimp Factory and 606 in Savannah. In his free time he was an artist and avid craftsman who loved wood working, painting, and creating unique art pieces. He was known for taking what others considered “junk” and turning it into highly valued treasures. After his countless hours of work, he would travel to arts and crafts festivals where attendees clamored over the artwork he created. In addition to being a talented artisan, he loved animals. He had a special affinity for gophers. Blaine is preceded in death by his grandparents, Jim Roe and Sweeter Hightower, and Oneida Oliver; great nephew, Bryce Paul Evans.
He is survived by his parents, Ray and Naomi Hightower of Collins; grandfather, Roger Oliver of Collins; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sabrina and Dr. James G. Patterson Jr. of DeLand, FL and Tona Rae Hightower and Scott Mannon of Collins; nieces, Melissa (Jason) Sapp, Megan Lindsey (Paul) Evans and Jincy Curl; great nieces and nephews, Tucker Thigpen, Bryson Sapp, Scarlet Evans and Jagger Blaine Evans; several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.
Visitation will begin at 6:00pm Saturday September 21, 2013 from the Reidsville Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted 3:00pm Sunday from the Reidsville Chapel of Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home with Dr. James G. Patterson Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Little Flock Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Scott Mannon, Jason Sapp, Jerry Lynn, Louie Hightower, Jr., Ronnie Williams and Dillon Todd
Memorials may be given to The Tattnall County Animal Shelter, Post Office Box 25, Reidsville, GA 30453
