Jose D. "Shorty" Lopez

Jose D. "Shorty" Lopez, born on January 18, 1956, in Texas, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, September 23, 2024, at the age of 68. He had lived in Glennville for the past 30+ years.

Shorty dedicated many years of his life working with onions at Bobby Rache Farms in Statesboro, contributing not only to his family but to the community he cherished. Shorty had a variety of interests that brought joy to his life. He found solace in cutting grass, washing cars, cooking, and indulging in the thrill of watching baseball on television. These simple pleasures reflected his down-to-earth nature and his zest for life.  He is a member of the Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church on the Sandhills. 

He is survived by his beloved wife of 22 years, Maria Lopez of Glennville, along with four children from Florida and several siblings residing in Texas. 

The community and all who had the privilege to know him are invited to pay their respects during the viewing scheduled for Thursday, September 26, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM at The Glennville Funeral Home, located at 403 W. Barnard Street in Glennville, GA.
