Joseph Robert “Bobby” McDonough, age 77 passed away Sunday, May 8, 2016 at Hospice Savannah. Bobby graduated from Commercial High School in 1956. He joined the Air Force in 1958 where he took Basic Training and attended Personnel School at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. Upon completing the course, he was assigned to McCoy AFB in Orlando, Florida where he spent his entire 4 years of enlistment. Upon discharge he moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida where he worked 28 years at the Sears Distribution Center in several positions leaving as Head Cashier. He returned to Savannah in 1990 to work at the Savannah Morning News; retiring in 2001 as Head cashier. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Robert P. and Sadie W. Eason; his mother, Sarah W. McDonough; a very special aunt and second mother, Theodora F. Harvey and a loving uncle, John R. Eason.

He is survived by one brother, Bernard A. McDonough, Jr., and sister in law, Mary Agnes McDonough of Savannah; two special nephews, Al (Debbie) and Greg (Brandy) McDonough; two great nieces, Allie McDonough and Savannah Judkins; one great nephew, Brody James McDonough all of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida; cousin, Brenda Loven and her daughter, Maggie and several cousins. He also, leaves behind a lifelong friend, Patricia Floyd Hahne and her husband Gene Hahne, their sons Greg, Chris and David; and lastly his best friend and ex-wife Mary Ann Bowman of Margate, Florida.

His final request was that his ashes be placed in the Ogeechee River, where he can swim with the dolphins. Anyone wishing to make a donation, may do so in his name to their church, favorite charity or Hospice Savannah.
