Glennville
Joseph “Joe” Calvin Brannen, age 76, passed away Friday, December 9, 2016 at Evans Memorial Hospital after a sudden illness. He was born in Glennville June 6, 1940 to Clyde and Grace Kicklighter Brannen. Joe was a graduate of the Glennville High School Class of 1959 and a member of the “Red Jacket” gang. He was a lifelong resident of Glennville and member of Birdford Baptist Church. Joe was a lifetime farmer and a wonderful and loving husband, daddy, papa and big papa. In his younger years, he enjoyed racing and riding horses, car races and playing church softball. Later in life, he enjoyed spending time with his family. He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Dartho and Arlian Brannen.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Linda Dasher Brannen; son, Shane (Tracy)Brannen of Glennville; daughter, Lisa (Bubba) Longgrear of Metter; grandchildren Alyssa, Alivia and Andrew Brannen; Jackson, Brooks and Adysan Longgrear; great-grandson, Joseph “Cayson” Guy; Sister, Evalo Boatwright (Myron); brother, Dannis Brannen; sister in-law, Jency Ann Brannen; former sister in-law, Winona O'Neal and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin at 10:00am, Tuesday, December 13, 2016 with funeral services to follow at 12:00pm from the chapel of Low Country Cremation Services and Burial in Glennville with the Rev. Tom Horn officiating. Interment will follow in the Glennville City Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Danny Anderson, Gary Dasher, Lance Dasher, Neal Anderson, Tommy Sollosi, Gary Brannen, David Brannen and Kenny Brannen.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Glennville High School Class of 1959.
Low Country Cremation Services and Burial is serving the Brannen family.
