Kaiser Fleming, Jr., age 61, entered eternal rest unexpectedly on Friday, June 14, 2019 after a sudden illness.  Kaiser and Vicki had made the fateful trip, on the date of his death, to McDonough to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary with their children and grandchildren.  The Tattnall County native grew up in Reidsville and graduated Reidsville High School in 1975.  After graduation, he followed the call of “Uncle Sam” and joined the United States Army.  Ultimately, he retired after 20 years of service to our beloved country.  His service to country and community did not end with his retirement, he continued to serve his community, working with the Georgia Department of Corrections for over 5 years.  Finishing out his professional career, he once again served to assist in defense of the homeland by being a civilian security contractor in Saudi Arabia for 10 years; retiring for good in 2016.  Even during his years of dedication to duty and patriotism, he carved out time for what was his favorite pastime.  Kaiser was a skilled softball player and avid fan.  His wife recalls traveling Europe and the U.S. alike as he played for the All Army softball team.  Later in his life, he fostered the love of the game in his daughters.  Vicki would often cringe as she saw the UPS truck pull up; inevitably it meant Kaiser had once again bought the latest bat or other gear for the game!  He passed his athletic skills down to his children and grandchildren and you could count on him to be on the sidelines for every football, baseball, or basketball game.  More recently, he developed a love for gardening and considered himself skilled at growing all type of vegetables.  Kaiser was more than just a label (husband, father, grandfather), he was so much more.  He was the family’s mentor, the enforcer of order, and most importantly a man of God.  All whom he surrounded himself with have all heard his long Bible references about obeying parents, living right, and loving God.  Though he was “Army strong” he was a kind and soft-hearted man who loved everyone’s children and wanted to see them succeed.  He became known by all simply as “Papa” and he will be deeply missed by all who were blessed enough to know him.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Kaiser and Bernice Fleming and a brother Charles Fleming.

Left to cherish a lifetime of memories made are his wife of 40 years, Vicki Fleming of Reidsville; daughters, Schandra (Shaun) Slater of Snellville, Amanda (Marcus) Butler of Snellville, and Marsha (Vick) Wilkerson of McDonough; six brothers, Tyrone (Gloria) Hobbs of Washington D.C., Obie Hobbs of Richmond VA, Robert (Kadada) Fleming of Collins, George (Brenda) Fleming of Reidsville, Blake (Mary) Fleming of Savannah, and Adrian (Joyce) Fleming of Atlanta; three sisters, Yvonne Venable of Washington D.C., Dorothy Renee Wright of Upper Marlboro MD, and Minerva (Sam) King of Reidsville; six grand-children, Kiana Slater, DaJuana Slater, Demetrio Slater, Nicholas Foster, Kymani Wilkerson, and Kamil Wilkerson; numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and other family also survives.

Visitation is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 21, 2019 at the chapel of Low Country Cremation & Burial in Reidsville.

Funeral Services are scheduled for Saturday, June 22, 2019 beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the chapel of Low Country Cremation & Burial in Reidsville with Rev. Wardell Rawls officiating.  Full military honors will be rendered by the United States Army.  Funeral services will conclude at the chapel on Saturday.

Interment will be conducted on Monday, June 24, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. in a private ceremony at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville
