Ms. Karen “YaYa” Garrett, age 58 passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Optim Medical Center in Reidsville.  She was born on March 20, 1960 in West Palm, Florida to Dean and Shirley Garrett.  She moved to Lyons in 1970 and then to Valdosta in 1983.  Five years ago she made Reidsville her home.  Karen was the best YaYa you’ve ever seen to her grandchildren and loved online shopping.  She was a member of Rocky Creek Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her brother, Ronald Dean Garrett.

She is survived by her parents, Dean and Shirley Garrett of Lyons; children, Trent Herndon of Reidsville, Lindsey (Darrin) Richardson of Valdosta, and Lauren (Travis) Futch of Hahira; siblings, Ann (Fred) Underwood, Joy (Alex) Beckum, and David (Lesli) Garrett all of Lyons; grandchildren, Christine, Adam, Shye, Rhya, Ace, Jocey, Charlotte, and Beau; numerous nieces and nephews.

In keeping with Karen’s wishes she will be cremated.

A memorial service will be held 1:00pm, Sunday, July 29, 2018 at the home of Dean and Shirley Garrett. A covered dish meal will follow the service.
