Katherine Lynn Bass, age 92, passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at her home. She was born on December 2, 1930, to Daniel and Kate (Collins) Lynn in Collins. Even though she was born in a small town, she had big time dreams. She left Tattnall County after graduation and would go on to attend St. Luke’s College of Health Science where she would attain her degree and become a Registered Nurse. Never one to stop learning, she would further her education at the University of Alabama Birmingham where she would graduate with her master's and become a nurse anesthetist. She would ply her skills in medicine in Arab, Alabama before moving to Reidsville in 1974. Once “home” she would finish out her career at Tattnall Memorial Hospital. Following her retirement, she was able to devote more time to various causes including the V.F.W. Auxiliary, the Pink Ladies, and a vital member of Reidsville United Methodist Church, now known as Grace Pointe. Whatever the endeavor, she had a heart of service and loved helping people. In her free time, she would, more often than not, be found in her yard attending to her flowers and manicuring her grounds. A lifetime spent in service to others and working to make the world a better place; she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl H. Bass, Sr; her siblings, Eva Lee Pittman, Lois Giebner, Carolyn Martin, Gene Lynn, D.J. Lynn, Edward Harold Lynn and Inez Marie Lynn and her granddaughter, Julie Bass Sikes.
She is survived by her children, Deborah “Debbie” (John) Adams of Warrenton, Carl H. “Chuck” (Kathy) Bass, Jr. of Glennville, Daniel “Danny” (Alana) Bass of Vestavia, AL, Dr. Richard (Paula) Bass of Eastman, Bruce (Angie) Bass of Rome and Katherine (John) Peebles of Thomson; siblings, Sue Nell Farmer of Panama City, FL, Lavanda (Jackie) Lynn of Collins and Wendell (Lyndal) Lynn of Collins; 15 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; special caregivers, Toy Powell, Lori Ross, and the ladies from Willow Pond; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday, February 10, 2023, beginning at 10:00am at the Grace Pointe Church in Reidsville with the funeral services to follow at 11:00am with Dr. John Crosby and Reverend Steve Posey officiating.
