Katherine Jane (Tootle) Hughes

Katherine Jane Tootle Hughes, age 82, passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2018 under the care of Hospice of the Golden Isles.  The Reidsville native was born on January 27, 1936 to the late Foy E. and Nettie Lee Wilds Tootle.   Katherine was a loving mother and was always involved with her family.  Among her favorite pass times; she loved watching her son race.  Family gatherings were often marked by having a fish fry; which was one of Katherine’s favorite foods.  Many other times, you could find her working in her garden.   Ms. Hughes is preceded in death by her parents; 3 sons, Ronald Griffin, Donnie Griffin, and Allen Mimbs; 2 sisters, Carolyn Tootle and Vonice Tootle Price; a brother, Terry Tootle.

Left to cherish precious times together are her 4 children, Linda Inks of Reidsville, Rusty Griffin of Nahunta, Kathy (Victor) Hester of Kingsland, and Dale (Carla) Mimbs of Kingsland; 7 siblings, Robert (Bennie) Tootle of Glennville, Earnest (Peggy) Tootle, Doyle (Ann) Tootle, Foy Tootle, Jr., and Melba Hatfield all of Reidsville, Gladys Collins of Glennville, and Doy Tootle of Alamo; 21 grandchildren; numerous great and great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews, and friends also survive.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 28, 2018 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the chapel of Low Country Cremation and Burial in Reidsville.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. from the chapel of Low Country Cremation and Burial in Reidsville with the Rev. Jeffrey Barnard officiating.   Interment will follow at Stoney Hill Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Jackie Sikes, Brad Barnard, John Koss, Harrell Smith, Kevin Smith, and Wade English.
