Reidsville GA,
Kenneth “Ken” Claxton, age 64, passed away on Monday, October 3, 2022, at Memorial Health in Savannah following a sudden illness. He was born in Vidalia on October 14, 1957 and had lived most of his life in the Reidsville area. Many around recall his dedicated service to his fellow citizens as he worked for 28 years with the Georgia Department of Corrections before retiring. Following retirement, he was active pursing his passions, mainly fishing and hunting. Others in the area knew him as a skilled poker player and one that you never wanted to sit across from, at least if you hoped to win. No matter what other distractions arose in his life, however, he was devoted to his family and never let a day pass without showing his love for them. Ken was a God-fearing Christian, hardworking family man, and overall good friend to all those he met; he will be sorely missed. He is preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Maxine Conner Claxton; and three sisters, Elaine Connor, Sue Ellen Sharpe, and Debbie Fowler.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Brenda Claxton of Reidsville; sons, Aaron Claxton and David Murphy both of Reidsville; grandson, Brantley Claxton; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends beginning at 2:00pm on Thursday, October 6, 2022 with the funeral services to follow at 3:00pm from the Chapel of Low Country Cremation and Burial with Dr. Charles Jonas officiating. Interment will follow in the Reidsville City Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Rudy Fowler, Michael Anderson, Peanut Conner, Stevie Smith, Ronnie Miller, and Earl Sikes.
