Obituary
Mr. Kenneth T. “KT” Kennedy
age 84 passed away Tuesday,
December 13, 2011 at Optim Health Care Center-Reidsville.
The Tattnall County native had lived in Reidsville all of his life
and was a US Navy Veteran. He served 39 years for the State
of Georgia. In 1947 he started with the Georgia State Patrol
where he served for seven years. For the next 15 years, he
served the Georgia Department of Defense in Hinesville at the
Concentration Site. In 1980, he resumed new duties as farm
supervisor what has now become Rogers State Prison. He
then retired after 11 years as Assistant Commissioner of the
Department of Corrections. He also served on the Department
of Corrections Board for five years. He was instrumental in starting
the Indian Ford Farms, along with being named after K.T.K. Reef.
He was a member of the VFW, Rising Sun Lodge #32 and the
Reidsville United Methodist Church. Mr. Kennedy was preceded in
death by his first wife, Mrs Edwina “Little Bit” Kennedy.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Kennedy of Reidsville; Daughter &
son-in-law, Dee Kennedy and Scott Oldre of Irmo, SC.; Son, Sam
Kennedy of Shellman Bluff; Stepsons, Wayne (Avie Dean) McCumber,
Shannon (April) McCumber all of Reidsville; Sister, Eudine Winge of
Reidsville; Grandchildren, Elizabeth Lauren Sekula, Allison Kitchens
Babb, Konner Thomas Kennedy and Carsen Renae Kennedy;
Step Grandchildren, Hunter, Harley, Dalton, and Mercedes McCumber;
Great grandchildren, Kennedy Jaye Babb and Ellison Parker Babb;
Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation and Funeral Services
Visitation will begin at 6:00pm on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 from the Reidsville
Chapel of Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be conducted 11:00am Thursday, December 15, 2011 from the
Reidsville United Methodist Church with the Reverend Marc Foster officiating.
Interment will follow in the Reidsville City Cemetery with military honors.
