Glennville,
Mr. Larry DeLoach, age 73, passed away Monday, May 27, 2019 at his residence surrounded by his loving family and under the care of Kindred Hospice. He was born on March 24, 1946 in Glennville to Herman and Catherine Weitman DeLoach. He has made his home in Long County for the past 50 years. Mr. Larry was a patriot and served in the Georgia National Guard and retired from Fort Stewart as a diesel technician. With his mechanical background and true American spirit of innovation, he was naturally a "jack of all trades". There was no other project that showcased his technical skills as much as the time that he built his own shrimp boat. From bow to stern and everything in between, he gave his all to make it the best it could be; just as he lived his life. Naturally, he excelled in everything he set his mind to accomplish, including his bountiful harvest yearly from his garden. Larry loved the outdoors and whether it was working in the garden or admiring nature, he was thankful for each day the Lord blessed him with. Living a full life, giving his all to each task before him, and loving his family with all his heart, he will be sorely missed. He is a member of Watermelon Baptist Church and is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Harlon DeLoach.
He is survived by his wife of 52 yrs, Donna DeLoach of Glennville; children, James (Jeanie) DeLoach of Glennville, Gina DeLoach of Glennville and Lisa (Raymond, Jr.) Horton of Statesboro; siblings, Lois Sands of Glennville, Harry (Janice) DeLoach of Glennville and Wayne DeLoach of Darien; grandchildren, Clayton, Olivia, and Laura Horton, Jonathan DeLoach and Ralph Scheire; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends beginning at 6:00pm on Wednesday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00pm Thursday, May 30, 2019 in the Chapel of Glennville Funeral Home with the Reverends Tommy Ray and Edward Brannen officiating. Interment will follow in the Ebenezer Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be DeWayne Kennedy, Bruce DeLoach, David DeLoach, Daniel Rogers, Raymond Horton and Butch Blocker.
