Reidsville
Laurie Newman passed away in death on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at her home in Reidsville, GA after dealing with health issues for several months. She grew up in Kettle River, MN and moved to Georgia in 1985. She lived in Metter, GA for several years before moving to Greenville, SC and later to Savannah, GA. For the past ten years, she was a resident of Reidsville.
As one of Jehovah's Witnesses, she was known to be a very caring, generous, and self-sacrificing person, always ready with a card or note to encourage those in need. Many will remember her love of cooking and sharing the finished product and recipes. She was very seldom missing from the meetings at the Kingdom Hall, even when she was not feeling well. Her life was focused on her zeal to share with others the wonderful promises found in the Bible. She had many friends in Greenville, Savannah, and other locations across the globe. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her mother, Winnie Newman of Reidsville; sisters, Debbie Burk of Reidsville, Luann Newman (Floyd Mercer) of Cobbtown; brothers, Mitch Newman (Jamie) of Moose Lake MN, David Newman (Brenda) of Reidsville and Rod Newman (Tanya) of Statesboro, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and good friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Roger Newman and a sister, Michele Doyle.
