Claxton
Mrs. LaVerne Scott Alexander Johnson, age 69 passed away Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Memorial Health University Medical Center. The Tattnall County native had lived in Claxton for the past twenty five years. She was a Reidsville High School Graduate of the Class of 1962. Mrs. LaVerne was a Physician’s Assistant working many years at the Southern Medical Group in Claxton. She loved to read and to tend to her flowers. She also loved to take care of her grandchildren. She was a member of Claxton Primitive Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her parents, Elder Fred and Avis Waters Scott; first husband, David Alexander; brothers, Danny and Gary Scott.
She is survived by her husband, Billy Johnson Jr. of Claxton; children, Paula Alexander (Brian) Reid, Mike (Julie) Alexander all of Reidsville, Stacy (Allen) White of Stillmore, Billy (Wendy) Johnson III of Oak Park, Kristi (Patrick) Kirby of Twin City, Daniel and David Johnson both of Claxton; sisters, Cherry Scott (Norm) Seibert of Reidsville, and Barbara Scott (Ivan) Pointer of Collins; uncle and aunts, Hugh and Mary Sue Scott and Eula Mae Scott all of Reidsville; nineteen grandchildren, ten great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Visitation will begin at 6:00pm on Monday from the Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home and Crematory in Reidsville. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00am, Tuesday, June 17, 2014 from the funeral home chapel with the Elder Jimmy Haire officiating. Interment will follow in the Reidsville City Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be James Alexander, Garrett Alexander, Ethan Alexander, William Daniels, Kyle Johnson, and Daniel Eubanks.
Memorials may be given to Evans CARES or Tattnall CARES.
