Obituary
Mr. Lewis R. “L.R.” McCumber age 73 passed away Saturday,
December 29, 2012 at Memorial Health University Medical Center.
The Tattnall County native had lived in Savannah most of his life.
He was the owner and operator of Pay Less Cash and Carry
Wholesale Grocery. He loved to fish and was an avid fan of the
Atlanta Braves. L.R. was a member of the Kingdom Hall of
Jehovah’s Witness. He was preceded in death by his parents,
Lewis Reynolds and Annie Pearl McCumber; daughter,Melodi
Meyer; brothers, Thomas and Robert McCumber; and a sister,
Louise Durrence.
He is survived by his daughters, Melissa McCumber Smith, Melenda
McCumber Henninge,Stephanie McCumber Cobb all of Savannah;
brothers, Walker McCumber of Savannah, Henry McCumber of Vidalia,
Ralph McCumber of Meldrim, Edwin McCumber of Lyons, Jerry McCumber
of Hinesville; sisters, Faye Wilson, Frances Thompson both of Savannah,
Nell Yeomans, Vickie Fanning both of Reidsville; six grandchildren, four great-
grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation and Funeral Services
Visitation will begin 5:00pm Monday, December 31, 2012 from the Reidsville Chapel.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00am Tuesday, January 1, 2013 from the
Reidsville Chapel of Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home with the Speaker Ben
Williams officiating. Interment will follow in the Reidsville City Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Brian Cobb, Josh Smith, Jeff Henninge, Reggie Fanning,
Ashley Fanning and Terry Anderson.
