Reidsville, GA
Muriel Elizabeth “Libby” Parker Rogers, age 82, of Reidsville, GA, entered her heavenly home on Monday, July 8, 2024. Born on December 19, 1941, Libby was the beloved eldest child of Grady and Charlotte Parker.
Her formative years were spent in the Tattnall County School System, and she would go on to graduate from Reidsville High School in 1959. Following graduation, Libby began her lengthy tenure in the workforce at Canoochee Electric before transitioning to work as a secretary for the Department of Juvenile Justice. She later earned her cosmetology license and would go on to work as a hairdresser for over 50 years. In 1981, however, she embarked on a career with The Tattnall Bank, where she ultimately retired as head teller. Despite her impressive career in banking, she continued her passion as a cosmetologist, balancing both careers with grace and dedication. In addition to her various careers, Libby worked hand-in-hand with her husband in the day-to-day operations of their family farm, showcasing her dedication and work ethic.
Libby was a devoted member of The Reidsville Baptist Church and an active participant in the Apphia Sunday School Class. Known for her outstanding culinary skills, she was renowned for her delicious home-cooked meals. She took immense pride in maintaining her yard and was admired for her strong-willed, classy demeanor and her generous heart.
Perhaps Libby’s greatest joys came while in the company of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life. A skilled seamstress, she was adept at creating everything from drapes to school costumes. Additionally, she lovingly crafted afghans for each of her grandchildren. She embodied the virtues expressed in Proverbs 31, always willing to help with a servant’s heart, prioritizing her church, her family and dedicating herself to being a loving wife and mother. She instilled a love of Christ in each of her children and grandchildren. A person who let the light of the Lord shine through her, she will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Libby was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Grady and Charlotte Parker; her brother, Jerome Parker; and her high school sweetheart and husband, Neil Rogers.
She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Rogers Crews (David) of Reidsville; her son, Ronald Rogers (Joy) of Dothan, AL; and her daughter, Renee Rogers Howard (John) of Reidsville. She was a proud grandmother to Caleb Crews (Brenna), Whitney Crews Sapp (Chad), Emily Rogers and fiancé Josh, Avery Rogers, Erin Howard Poppell (Caleb), and Ansley Howard, and a loving great-grandmother to Hayden and Grady Sapp.
Libby is also survived by her siblings, Brenda Parker Tatum (Ted) of Reidsville and Wayman Parker (Janice) of Reidsville, as well as her sister-in-law, Ginger Parker of Reidsville. Many beloved nieces and nephews also cherish her memory.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 11, 2024, beginning at 9:30am with the funeral services to follow at 11:00am from the Reidsville Baptist Church with Dr. Charles Jonas officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Carmel Church Cemetery.
