Lilas Mae (Gay) Powell

Mrs. Lilas Mae Powell, age 79, passed away on Thursday July 2, 2020 at Oxley Park Health and Rehab in Lyons.  She was born on April 3, 1941 in Wadley, GA to Archie and Harvey Lee Gay.  She was reared in Reidsville and spent most of her adult life in Lyons.  She had worked for about ten years in the cafeteria at Lyons Elementary School but mostly was a homemaker.  Mrs Powell enjoyed reading especially her Bible.  She was of the Methodist faith and is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Billy Powell and her brothers, Alonzo, Lariston, Herman, Morris and J.W. Gay.

She is survived by her children, Kathy (Tim) NeeSmith of Hahira, GA and Jamie Powell of Lyons; sister, Lucille Brown of Reidsville; grandchildren, Eric (Jessica) NeeSmith and Holly (Jimmy) Register; great grandchildren, Karley, Kinsley, Cody, and Abby; numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted 11:30am, July 25, 2020 at Lyons City Cemetery.

Low Country Cremation and Burial is serving the Powell family.
