Lillian S. Griffin

Lillian Smith Griffin was born April 11, 1926 in Collins Georgia, to the late Harvey and Tackler Smith.  She was educated in Tattnall County Georgia.  She was joined in holy Matrimony to the late Allen Griffin on March 8, 1946.  To this union, one daughter and one son was born.  Lillian joined Greater Bethel Church, Reidsville, Georgia at an early age.  Later in life she moved her membership to St. Phillips Missionary Baptist Church Reidsville, Georgia, where she served for long as her health permitted.  She had two sisters, Nana Bell Smith and Doretha Smith Griffin; two brothers, Guyton Smith and Thurman Smith; a granddaughter, Charity F. Smith who preceded her in death.

She was called home on January 31, 2020 after a short illness at her home in Collins, Georgia.

She leaves to cherish her memories a daughter, Carolyn Griffin Cobb of Collins; a son, Melvin (Sandra) Smith of Collins; one grandson, Patrick (Jeanette) Cobb of Fitzgerald; six great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; four sister, Novella McKinnon of Claxton, Lorine Smith Holmes of Jacksonville FL, Corine Smith Griffin of Marshville NC, and Margie Smith (Richard) Sharpe of Chicago IL; a sister in law, Lavern Walker Smith of Reidsville; a God son, Robert (Pat) Cleveland of Jacksonville FL; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 6, 2020 at the funeral home beginning at 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Friday, February 7, 2020 at St. Phillips Missionary Baptist Church in Reidsville with Dr. Artis Carswell officiating.

Interment will follow in the St. Williams Memory Gardens.
